Talks & Workshops

Talks & Workshops

I speak, train and run workshops, mostly on AI for working teams. It started in 2019 with undergraduates at FAST NUCES, then working professionals at iQualify UK, and now the AI programmes I design and run at IOTA and outside it. My research is at the end of this page.

Sessions I can run for you

My talks are vendor-neutral; no product pitches. Each session can be shortened, extended or adapted to your team, and I can run it in English or Urdu.

  1. 01

AI assistants at work: from first prompt to daily workflow

Workshop · Half day, about 3 hours · Beginner to intermediate · In person or virtual · Up to 40 people · Also available as a Claude edition

A hands-on workshop that takes a team from its first prompts to the workflows power users rely on, in whichever assistant the team uses. We work on real tasks from the room: drafting and reviewing documents, analysing data, working with long files and setting up projects so context carries over. People leave with habits they can use the next morning, and a clear sense of where the tool falls short.

  2. 02

Getting reliable work from AI: prompting, context and RAG

Training · 2 hours · For non-technical staff · In person or virtual · Up to 60 people

For people who use AI at work but do not build with it. I cover how to frame a request, how to give the model the context it needs, what retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) does in plain terms and how to check an answer before you rely on it. No coding and no tool tour: the exercises come from the everyday tasks the room already has.

  3. 03

    Agentic AI from first principles

Training · 3 hours · Intermediate, for technical teams · In person or virtual · Up to 40 people

What an agent is once the marketing is stripped away: a model that can call tools in a loop. I build up from a single tool call to multi-step automation, then cover the patterns that hold up in practice, the ways agents fail and how to keep a person in control of anything that matters. It ends with a live build and a short test for whether a task needs an agent at all.

For the live build, each participant needs a laptop, a code editor and an API key for one model provider.

  4. 04

AI in the SOC, from cloud to air-gapped

Talk · 45 minutes plus Q&A · Security leaders and engineers · In person or virtual

Where AI helps a security operations centre today, and where it adds risk. I look at alert triage, written triage summaries, plain-English response policies and the human approval step, then at what changes when the network is air-gapped: running models locally, updating them safely and keeping an audit trail. It draws on years of building monitoring and security software, and it stays vendor-neutral.

  5. 05

From engineer to CTO: what each step adds

Talk · 30 to 45 minutes · Engineers, new managers and founders · In person or virtual

I was promoted three times in four years at one company, from senior engineer to CTO, and each step asked for something new while keeping everything from before. I cover what changed at each stage, from running one team’s releases to answering for sales and the business side, what I got wrong along the way and what I would tell myself at each step.

  6. 06

What AI is changing in Pakistani and Gulf businesses

Panel or fireside · 45 to 60 minutes · Mixed audiences · In person or virtual

Grown out of the AI Lens 2026 panel in Islamabad. A conversation about what AI is changing inside businesses in Pakistan and the Gulf, where generative AI goes next, and what a company should do this year instead of someday. I bring examples from enterprise work and from the teams I train, and I leave plenty of room for the audience’s questions.

  7. 07

From research to product: building a career in AI

Guest lecture or seminar · 60 to 90 minutes · University students and early-career engineers · In person or virtual

For students deciding what to do with an interest in AI. I taught computer science at FAST NUCES for three years, wrote my master’s thesis on human-in-the-loop neuroevolution and now ship AI in enterprise products and my own. The session covers which skills carry from coursework into industry, how a research idea becomes something people use, and plenty of time for questions about careers.

He designs and teaches IOTA’s AI programmes and taught computer science at FAST NUCES.

Bio, 250 words

Usman Kaisser Moghal is CTO at IOTA Solutions, an Islamabad company whose monitoring and security software runs at telecom operators, government bodies, utilities and hospitals, including sites with no internet connection. He owns IOTA’s product lines: Trace9® for IT monitoring, Amygdala XDR® for security operations and Thalamus for network access control. Five team leads and more than 20 engineers report to him, and since February 2026 he has also run IOTA’s pre-sales and sales, working directly with senior leaders at its customers.

He joined IOTA in 2022 as a senior engineer and was promoted three times in four years, through development manager and deputy CTO to CTO. He still writes and reviews code.

In 2026 he co-founded Arlo, an AI chief of staff that reads mail, calendar and files and drafts the replies, and he runs its enterprise side. He has also founded two AI products of his own: Voxera, a voice agent that takes and makes calls in 60 languages, and AI Continuum, a sourced knowledge graph of AI engineering that agents query over MCP.

Teaching runs through his career. He taught computer science at FAST NUCES for three years and professional courses at iQualify UK for two, and he now designs and leads IOTA’s training on prompting, RAG and agentic AI. He holds an MS in Computer Science from FAST NUCES and a BS from Air University, both summa cum laude, with a gold medal for the BS.
